(David Smith’s singular expression of Bahamian pop art)… Using his form to help articulate content, Smith draws on familiar signs and images of popular culture in the Bahamas during the early nineteen eighties. The images are rendered to seduce in the same slick manner as their referents. But through the artist’s brush they reverb with biting commentary on the social, cultural and economic relations in the Bahamas during that decade.
